We tried to make SimpleTimer as easy and intuitive to use as possible. But if there are still open questions or if you have suggestions or need additional help with SimpleTimer, please contact us.
A custom timer is a timer that you need to run only once. It will not be saved and it will be gone once it's done or canceled.
You can create and run a custom timer by first clicking on the SimpleTimer menu bar icon and then on 'Start Custom Timer...'. A small window will open that asks you for the desired timer duration. Simply type the numbers you want and press Enter or the 'Run Timer' button when you're done. Your custom timer will then start to count down.
To start a predefined timer click on the SimpleTimer menu bar icon and look for the menu entry called 'Start new Timer'. As soon as you hover your mouse over it a new list will pop up displaying all timers that you have saved. Choose the desired timer from that list. Once you clicked on it, it will start running.
The most obvious sign that one or more timers are currently running is when the ring around the SimpleTimer menu bar icon is slowly breathing in red instead of simply being black. The usually light gray pie chart in the center of that icon will also be have changed to black and display the progress of your timer. If only one timer is running, its progress is being displayed. If more than one timer is running, the progress of the next timer that will be done is displayed.
To get a detailed list of currently running timers and their progress click on the SimpleTimer menu bar icon. All currently running timers and their progress will be displayed in this list.
To cancel a currently running timer click on the SimpleTimer menu bar icon and look for the timer that you want to cancel. If only one timer is running, it's the topmost entry in the list. If the SimpleTimer menu bar icon is not breathing in red, no timer is currently running and therefore none will be listed in the SimpleTimer menu.
Hover your mouse over the timer you want to pause, resume or cancel. A new submenu will pop up. Click on 'Cancel Timer' if you want to cancel it, or on 'Pause Timer' if you want to pause it. You can resume a paused timer the same way you paused it.
To add, delete, or change a timer click on the SimpleTimer menu bar icon and choose 'Edit Timers...' at the bottom center of that list. A new window will open that lists all currently saved timers.
Hover your mouse over one of the timers, some buttons will appear.
If you want to edit a timer, hover over it and click 'Edit'. The timer edit window will pop down. Change the timer's name and press Enter or click on the 'Continue' button. Now change the timer's duration and press Enter again or click the 'Save' button.
If you want to delete a timer, hover over it and click 'Remove'.
To create a new predefined timer, scroll the list all the way down until you find 'Add a new timer...' and click on it. The timer edit window will pop down, asking you for the name and duration for the new timer.
You can change the order the timers are listed in the SimplTimer menu by clicking on the arrow buttons that appear when you hover over a timer.
To switch off the menu bar icon animation click on the SimpleTimer menu bar icon and choose 'Preferences' to open the SimpleTimer preferences window.
Look for the 'Animate Menu Bar Icon' switch and set it to 'Off'.

In the SimpleTimer preferences window look for a button saying 'Play this Sound When a Timer is Done' and click on it. A list with available sounds will appear. Choose any sound you like.
To change whether and how OSX's Notification Center should display the notifications for a finished timer, go to your system's preferences application by clicking on the Apple icon in the very top-left corner of your screen, and then choose 'System Preferences...'. Now look for 'Notifications', and click on it. Now scroll down the list that just appeared until you find SimpleTimer, and select it. To the right of that list, you should now see a bunch of options that give you the ability to adjust the behavior of these notifications to your liking.
SimpleTimer uses iCloud synchronization to sync all your settings and predefined timers between your Macs and, if you use Pro Timer (available in the App Store), to your iOS devices. Custom timers and currently running timers will not be synchronized.
You don't need to enable anything to sync your data, SimpleTimer will do so automatically if iCloud is available.
